Resuming one’s studies as an adult is never easy. Between work, personal life, and lack of time, it takes courage to take the plunge. Kim, however, made that choice. By resuming her final year of high school with ChallengeU, she gave new meaning to her education and discovered that it is never too late to believe in yourself.

The turning point – why I decided to finish my degree
I decided to finish my high school diploma because, for me, having that foundation is essential today. In 2025, not having one Secondary 5It still closes too many doors, and I no longer wanted it to be a hindrance in my life.
I want to give myself the means to move forward, to have a job that I am passionate about and that will also allow me to offer a better future to my future children.
Going back to school is a way for me to believe in myself again. It’s also proving that no matter the choices we’ve made in the past, we can always decide to change direction. For me, this return to education is a real turning point: a mix of fear, pride, and above all, determination.
The past – understanding why I had dropped out
When I was younger, I didn’t take my studies seriously. At 16, I believed that school was pointless, that everything adults said was meaningless. I simply wanted to live from day to day, without really thinking about my future.
Looking back, I understand that it wasn’t a lack of intelligence or ability, but rather a lack of motivation and guidance. At the time, no one really explained to me why the degree was so important or how it could change my life. I felt a bit lost and ended up picking up.
I’m sharing my story because I know I’m not the only one who felt this way as a teenager. But what matters isn’t where you stopped, it’s when you decide to start again. Thanks to ChallengeUI able to do it at my own pace in a supportive environment that restored my confidence.
Discovering ChallengeU – learning differently
I discovered ChallengeUsomewhat by chance while looking at testimonials on social mediaWhat immediately appealed to me was seeing people like me, adults with jobs and busy lives, succeeding in obtaining their high school diploma remotely.
I then enrolled in the course Secondary French 5What convinced me was the platform’s flexibility. With my job as a manager in a women’s clothing store, I didn’t have the opportunity to attend in-person classes. Being able to study at my own pace, whenever I have a free moment, has changed everything.
ChallengeU allowed me to keep my job while progressing in my studies without feeling overwhelmed. I could organize my days according to my priorities: work, then dedicate myself to my courses in the evening or during my holidays.
Balance – Finding your rhythm between studies and work
At first, balancing studies, work, and personal life wasn’t easy. But over time, I understood that the key is… organization and discipline.
I’ve established a simple but effective routine: when I’m off work, I dedicate a good part of my day to my courses on the platform. On evenings when I’m working, I set aside some time to study before relaxing. For example, after dinner and a shower, I give myself a short objective. Study tip c: Complete a series of exercises before watching a movie or series.
This little habit has changed everything. If I sit down directly in front of the TV, I quickly lose my motivation. But by giving myself this little “boost” before relaxing, I end my days with a feeling of pride.
Today, even though I still get tired sometimes, I know that every effort counts. I’m moving forward at my own pace, without unnecessary pressure, and I can feel the difference! I feel more confident, more organized, and above all, proud that I didn’t give up.
Motivation – Surround yourself with support and believe in yourself
When fatigue sets in or motivation wanes, I remind myself why I started. I think about my future, my plans, and the pride I’ll feel the day I finally hold my diploma in my hands. That’s what keeps me going, even when it’s tough.
I’m not alone on this journey. My parents and my boyfriend are incredibly supportive. My partner, in particular, plays a crucial role: he understands my priorities, he lets me study in peace when I need to, and he motivates me to complete each stage. Sometimes, he even helps me understand a question or proofreads my answers. Most importantly, he encourages me without putting any pressure on me. This support is a real strength.
Motivation doesn’t just come from others. I’ve learned to create a routine that keeps me focused: set small goals and celebrate each milestone achieved.
My biggest piece of advice for other students on the platform is not to be afraid to ask questions. At first, I was shy; I didn’t dare contact my teachers and was afraid of bothering them. But I quickly realized that was a mistake. Teachers are there for that, and they are always happy to help us.
Future – Charting my course after graduation
Today, I am proud of the path I have traveled. Resuming my studies has restored my confidence, not only in my abilities, but also in my dreams. Each step completed on ChallengeU brings me a little closer to what I want to achieve, even if everything is not yet clear in my mind.
For my next steps, I’m hesitating between different options. I’d really like to pursue a vocational diploma (DEP), perhaps in secretarial studies or accounting. These are two fields that appeal to me, and I want to continue learning and going further. This return to school has truly rekindled my love of learning.
Beyond the concrete projects, what this experience has given me most of all is the pride of having dared to start again. Because ultimately, the hardest part isn’t doing the exercises or studying after a long day: it’s deciding to take the plunge! And once you take that first step, anything becomes possible.
